Fernald, who died late Monday, a victim of intestinal poisoning and a weakened heart. These included telegrams from Pres- ident Coolidge, Vice President Dawes, Attorney General John G. Sargent, former Governors of Maine, associ- ates in the Senate and many others. Complying with the Senator’s often expressed wish, the service will be very brief, at 1 o'clock, standard time, in the little country church which he attended regularly when here. Rev. Dr. James F. Youngberg, Engineers, on leave of absence in this city, has been placed on the re- tired list of the Army on account of disability incident to the service. He is from Minnesota and was a star graduate of West Point in 1896. After six years' service in the Ar- tillery Corps he was transferred to the Engineers and reached the grade of lieutenant colonel in that corps in June, 1920. During the World War he served as a colonel of Engineers in the National Army and was award- rvice medal. The Commissioners have approved a recommendation from Supt. of Police Hesse dropping Policeman Oscar Blondis of the sixth precinct trom the force. The decision followed the report of his superior officers on an incident occurring the night of August 9, when Blondis fired his re. volver while pursuing a colored man whom he had stoppesd for not having proper lights on his automobile.
