The Town Council of Takoma Park, Md., met Monday night to receive ob- ]ecllons to the paving of various streets in the community and to transact other routine business. A single objection was lodged to the paving of Elm avenue. The paving program follows: Tulip avenue from Cedar to Holly avenue, Hickory avenue, Alleghany avenue from Elm avenue to Second street and Elm avenue. The only ob- jection filed was by one property own- er on Elm avenue, while all other speakers favored the permanent im- provements. Bids were opened for constructing concrete roadways and STAR, WASHINGTON, cement sidewalks, all of which were referred to the street committee for report. The report of town Treasurer Bryan Davis for the month of July was presented and approved. It showed receipts from taxes, permits, deposits, interest and tax redemptions amounting to $18,383.56, which, with the balance on hand of $7,423.89, made a total of $25,807.45. Disbursements during the month for street work, labor, street lighting, salaries, ma- terlal, machinery, tools and tax re- demptions were $2,277.31, leaving a net balance on hand of $23,530.14. Willlam Thomas was appointed a bailiff. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Ben G. Davis, with Councilmen E. H. Rogers, Dr. E. G. Sullflbur\, Capt. Charles V. Johnson, D.
