The resolutions called on members of the synod “to aid in the observance of the law and to defeat hostile referenda submitted to the electorate.” A protest was lodged against the immigration act of 1924, the operation of which, it was declared, will result in unjust discrimination against im- migration from northern European countries. The synod expressed satis- faction over the work accomplished by the immigrant and sailors’ homes at Boston, New York, Seattle and San Francisco. Efforts to centralize the eight educa- tional institutions of the synod, under the control of a single board of educa- tion, received a setback when the synod rejected a resolution offered by Dr. A.
