CATHOLIC WOMEN PLAN BROADER RURAL PROGRAM Summer Schools Will Be Operated This Year at Glymont, La Plata and Solomons Island. The executive board of the District Council of Catholic Women has per- fected plans for its rural religious Summer schools. _ Rev. Father O'Hara from Indian Heaod, at a re- cent meeting, told of the god that came from the schools last Summer, and asked that they be continued in his parish. It was decided to operate schools this year at Glymont, La Plata and Solomons Island. Under direction of Miss Rebecca Shanley, members of the council ac- companied by several Catholic sisters drive each week to a designated point, at which Catholic children have been gathered in a big bus operated by the ‘council. Religlous instruction and some recreational work is given the children, some of whom, white and colored, living 40 miles from W ‘ashing- ton, have never seen a Catholic sister |P The territory embraced is too great for one priest to carry on this work. This year plans have been made to care for a greater number of children, as in La Plata and at Solo- mons Island a resident school will be conducted by a group of Sisters'of | Mercy, under auspices of the council The District council is making a drive for an increased membership.
