By the Associated Press. 8 NEW YORK, May 25.—A real life plot for an old-fashioned movie thril- ler chase was furnished yesterday when two robbers held up two Atlan- tic and Pacific grocery stores. During the excitement four persons were Injured before one of the rob- bers was caught. At pistol point the robbers obtained $40 at a Madison avenue store. They then went to the second store a few blocks away and obtained $70. The manager, Lloyd Ripley, sought to prevent their escape and was knocfid to the floor by a blow on the head.,, He regained his feet and gave chase, calling to passersby to join him. Five-year-old Shirley Linderman was crossing the street when she was struck by a hig m‘ning car that was e suffered a pos- sible fracture of the skull. The robbers sought to cover their retreat with a fusillade of pistol shots and one of the bullets struck Mrs. May Ferguson in the thigh. .One of the fugitives ran into a sub- way station with a patrolman and a pursuing throng close at his heels. The ticket agent shut-off the power, stopping all lncal trains, and the chase continued down the tracks. when over- taken the robher put up a furious bat- tle and when finally subdued required médical attention.
