Passage of the revised Dill radio bill by the Senate within the next 10 days is being freely predicted at the Capitol. The new measure of Senator Dill, which would set up an indepen: dent commission for the control of radio, is undarstood to have the back- ing of a large majority of the Senate committee on interstate commerce and will be strongly supported in the upper house when it is given over to_the floor for debate. ‘What will happen to the radio leg. islation after the passage of the Dill bill, however, still is a wide open problem. There is énly one vital point on which the Houss and the Senate differ—namely, the placement of authority—and the House already has voiced as its opinion that radio control should be given over perma. nently to the Department of Commerce, aselsted and checked by a radio com- mission of (disinterested parties. Time May Be Factor. Agreement on this issue when the two radio measures, the White and Dill bills, are submitted to a joint committee may be reached through the pressure of time—as Senators and Representatives alike are anxious for speedy adjournments.
