The recent sharp break in automo- bile security prices has naturally tended to arouse apprehension in re gard to the prospects of the automo. bile companies this r. There is apparently some justification in ex pecting that motor companies will make a less favorable showing in the last half of 1926 than in the last . according to the Alex ander Hamilton Institute’s Busin Review. Automobile prices are gen erally lower than a year ago and the probability is that fewer automobiles will be sold this year than last. There is small prospect that aute mobile prices will be marked up this year. It is more likely that more price cuts will be announced if further economies can be managed. Competi tion will continue severe notwithstand- ing the fact that only half as many nger automobile companies a:e in the fleld now as in 1922, when the weaker concerns began to be. forced out of business. Although there are fewer automo- bile companies, the total producing capacity is the highest on record. The DProa; | present annual capacity is estimated at over 6,000,000 cars. The record 1925 demand was equal to only two-thirds of capacity. Southerw Dairies Sales Gain.
