The weakness in Government bonds did not become a factor until after the first hour, and during the first hour fully 25 stocks made new high records. Day’'s New High Records. Among these were United States Smelting, Virginia-Carolina Chemical common and B stock, Goodrich, which was up a point; Robert Reis, Metro nolitan Edison preferred, which was up over 3 points; Underwood Type writer, up over 2 points; North Amer. ican, International Cement, which was up over 2 points; International Rail ways of Central America, Famous Players preferred, Western Electrical Instrument, common and preferred: Niagara Falls Power, which was up a point up 3 points, and eferred Dodge Stock Strong. The strength in Dodge Brothers A atock was due to the expectation of a highly favorable semi-annual report The best information was that this would show earnings at the rate of $& a share.
