C, FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 1925, $30 000100 BACKS HUGE OIL ROJECT Independent Purchasing and Marketing Organization An- nounced in Eldorado, Ark. By the Assoclated Press. ELDORADO, Ark., June 26.—The Daily News says the formation of an independent ofl-purchasing and mar- keting organization financed by El Dorado, Little Rock and Pine Bluff, Ark., capitalists, with assets of more than $30,000,000, will be announced here. Work on a_12,000,000-barrel re- finery on the Ouachita River at Calion, 13 miles northeast of here, will be started immediately, the paper says. Pipe Line Projected. “/Completion of a 100-mile pipe line to Lake Village on the Mississippi River by the Standard Ofl Co. of Louisiana, with a barge system to Tidewater,” coupled with the increase on rail charges, the article says, “is reliably reported here as being the cause for announcement of a coali- tion of independent operators and Arkansas capitalists, which would Pparallel the pipe line and barge line to the Gulf and relleve the threat of a Standard monopoly obtained through discriminatory rail tariffs, as charged by local independents before the Southwestern Frelght Bureau Tues- day.” Corporation Plans Outlined. Plans of the new corporation, ac- cording to the Dally News, call for the construction of a 12-inch pipe line from El Dorado, where gathering lines converve from five fields to the Ouachita at Calion. “The line, the story says, “will have a capacity of 45,000 barrels of heavy oil a day. Barges already have been purchased for transportation of crude and re- fined oil down the Ouachita and Mis- sissippl Rivers. “Formation of the new organization, now virtually completed, comes on the heels of a crushing blow to independ. ent oil operators here, the declaration of a 16-cent rate on oil shipments from Arkansas to tidewater, the re- quest for continuance of the 14-cent per hundredweight emergency rate having been rejected Tuesday at a hearing_ before the Southwestern Feight Bureau at St. Louifs.” SR The average span of life today is 20 years longer than in Revolutionary day ick Medical Glasses Fit hcamcgum Eyes Examin Dr. CLAUDE §.
