April 4.—All of the candidates for governor are to make speeches here Thursday of next week—the sessions of the Virginia Good Roads Association. They were formally invited to be on hand and to ress their views on this subject. he meeting of the organization, which stands for good roads in every part of the State, will bring several + hundred men to the eity. All of the aspirants for governor are for good roads, but Senatotr Byrd and €. Lee Moore are against the hond principal. Senator Mapp declared he s willing to give the pay-as-you-go n a trial, but that the people of the State wanted good roads If that scheme should fall. However, the ex- pressions of the candidates will have a good deal of weight with the voters of the State in the primary to be held fn August, when a nomination for governor will be made.
