RYAN HITS BIRTH CONTROL Says America Is More Likely to Become Depopulated Than Overpopulated. “There is more danger of America becoming depopulated than overpop- ulated,” Rev. Dr. John A. Ryan of the Catholic University told the Cos- mopolitan Club at the Frankljn Square Hotel yesterday during an ad- dress on birth control He said that in order to keep the present population of the country each family should consist of three and seven-tenths children. He sald that the people of the Middle West and the college graduates were fall- ing far short of reproducing them- selves Dr. Ryan declared that birth con- trol would not result in a benefit to the working class in the long run and stressed that, besides the moral issue involved, it would tend to bring about a life of ease, a lack of responsibil- ity and self-assertion that would not INING STAR, be conducive to the production of & sturdy and self-rellant race.
