NEW YORK, December 26.—Heavi- ness in the foreign group stood out in an otherwise firm bond market today. The downward trend in the French issues which was so pro- nounced before the holiday, extended today to the German 7s, which fell where they were down a point below the high of last week. The new Belgian 6s sold either at the offering price or a shade above, and the new Greek 7s were only a half point above the figure at which they were originally brought out. Paris Lyons and Mediterranean sold down below 80. French 7 were still below par and French 8s below 104. Japanese 6l3s continued reac- tiona Domestic Bonds Aetive. There was no real weakness in any of these cases. It was merely that the cnthusiasm which greeted the re- cently offered foreign bonds and had entirely disappeared and that the tenor of the political dispatches from abroad was discouraging to any speculative buying. In domestic bonds interest cen- tered in the speculative type, partic- ularly the convertibles. Magma Cop- per 7s made a new high, keeping with the stock Chile Copper 6s went along with the other copper The sugar issues also d better, Eastern Cuban Sugar 7ls at one time being up more than a point and a half, while Punta Alegre Sugar s made a similar gain. Sinclair Sevens Drop. Against these advances a drop in Sinclair 7s to a new low under 87. In the general ofl bonds were not in favor.
