The lakes and marshes of the central plateau are among the most wonderful duck regions in the rld, and here the natives depend larzely on pot hunting for a livel 00 = it is not unusual for 1,000 or more ducks to be killed by a single volley from an ‘“armada,” a contrivance similar to the “battery” formerly in use in the United States, but now prohibited by law. Dozens of muzzle loading guns are lashed in tiers and discharged by a powder fuse with frightful effect among the nestling fowl. Efforts to secure legislation against the use of the “armada” hav- ing_ falled, foreign and Mexican sportsmen are attempting to secure international co-operation in their efforts to launch a new anti-armada campalgn.
