EPSCOPAL BODIES Five Organizations' Meetings to Parallel Synod Sessions -« This MonmT Pive organizations of women of the Episcopal Church in the province of Washington will hold conventions in Washington during the sessions of the provincial synod November 20, 21 and 22, The Woman's Auxiliary, the Church Periodical Club and St. Barnabas' Guild for Nurges will hold their meetings in the parish hall of St. John's Church, 16th and H streets northwest: the Daughters of the King and the Church Mission of Help will meet at the Church of the Ascen- sion, 12th street and Massachusetts avenue, and the Girls' Friendly Eo- clety will use for its meetings the Elizabeth Roberts Memorial rooms at 17th and H streets, No study classes will be conducted, but conferences for educational secre- taries, united thank offering custo- dians ‘and other group meetings will be arranged. All sessions will be open to visitors, although only prop- erly accredited delegates may vote. 'he women's organizations will at- tend the services of holy communion ‘with which the sessions of the synod open, which will be held in the Church of the Epiphapy at 10 a.m. November 20, and will be present at the first business session of the synod when Bishop William Cabell Brown of Vir- &inia, the president of the synod, will deliver his annual address. Wednesday afternoon the women's sections will visit the Natioual . Cathedral. on Mount St Alban, and attend the session of the synod in the interest of Christian social service, at which Bishop Free- man will make an address. After adjournment the deputies to the synod and the delegates to the Wwomen's section will be received by Bishop and Mrs. Freeman at the bishop's house. November 22 the members of thé Girla ~ Friendly Society ~will _visit Mount Vernon and the Holiday House of the society nearby. The other organizations ~ will hold business meetings. The afternoan of the last day of the #ynod will be devoted to a joint T +%ng in the interest of the needs ©. '.ie church in Japan in consequence of the recent earthquake. It is esti- mated that there is immediate need among the Episcopal missionaries and Japanese Christians of relief to the amount of $500,000. The joint session Wwill be addressed by several mission workers who are thoroughly familiar with the conditions in that country. In addition to telling about his expe- riences with Christian Endeavorers in all sections of the United States and in some of the foreign aountries, Mr. Hamilton will give an outline of the Friends of Christ campaign for the next two vears as adopted at the Interna- tlonal Christian Endeavor convention at Des Moines. Formerly affiliated with the Ohio State Christian/ Endeavor Union, Mr. Hamilton for the past eight Years has been connected with the United Socicty of Christian Endeavor, with headquar- ters at Boston. As national field secretary Mr. Hamil- ton is devoting his time to the spread of the Christian Endeavor movement.
