The ground has been purchased and the bullding stak- ed out. Operations are expected to begin before long. The structure will be of stucco and English half timber, forty feet front and sixty-two feet deep, providing fa- cilities for the fire department and com- munity center gatherings. The fire de- partment apparatus room will be twelve Ly twenty feet and will house the new chemical engine lately turned over to the Bradley Heights fire depart- ment by the District of ‘Columbia fire department. A hall for general com- munity use, twenty by fifty feet, will occupy the main portion of the build- ing. Each side of the entrance lobby will be flanked with a room, one for the fire department, adjoining the ap- paratus room, and the other for the use of the' citizens' association. An ornamental tower forty feet high, equipped with an electric fire alarm whistle, will be at the soutlw-cst cor- ner. Observation balconies will be lo- cated at the top of the tower. One of the main features of the main hall will be large doorways at either side, which can be threwn open, communicating with lawns for par- ties and entertainments. A platform will be at one end cf the hall. Hot- water heat will be provided. Bafley, who posed as a member of Congress in order to give weight to a scheme he developed for selling automobiles to rural mail car- riers at low prices, for which he was indicted for using the mails to de- ment officer, was brought to Was ington today from Winston-Salem, N. C., where he was arrested several weeks ago. He was turned over to United States Marshal Snyder and is now held at the marshal's office pending arrangements for bond.
