| 'uDGING OF POULTRY | EXHIBITS HERE BEGUN Work Will Continue Throughout Day in Determining Prize Win- ners at Annual Show. Judging of the several thousand ex- hibits in the ninth annual Washing- ton poultry show started togay at the Coliseum, over Center Masket, 9th street nad Pennsylvania avenue, at 10 o'clogk. When the doors were opened to the public today all of the exhibits were in thelr cages, and blue-blooded poul- try and pigeons were competing with treaks for top honors. Poultry that has won first prizes in exhibitions in various parts of the country, and which is of the best breeds here, is shown with breeds of foreign va- rieties. The judges expect to complete their work by tonight, so that by tomor- row all of the prize-winners will be designated. The principal prizes are the President Harding, Vice Presi- dent Coolldge and Secretary of Agri- culture Wallace cups, which will be presented to the winners tomorrow. The first is to the best American-bred cockerel, the second for the best American-bred pullet and the third for the best young pen. There are chickens weighing from ounces up to eighteen pounds each. the larger class, Jersey Black ants, these birds weigh eighteen pounds each, while the smallest are Rose Comb Black Bantams, which are bred by J. L. Cooms of Dunlor- ing. There are chickens with practi- cally no feathers, and a breed of fowl from a duck and a chicken. Fancy' pigeons and. racing pigeons are on exhibition. In the former class“are some that hold world rec- ords, while in the racing class are some of the longest-distance-flying birds in this country.
