SOCIETY Weddings Feature Week’ Of Society Happenmgs [ . & : A pretty weddlng of . yesterday afternoon was that of Miss Margaret Catherine_Beall, daughter of Judge and Mrs. Filmore Beall, and Nr. Thomas Fyland Buchanan of Staun- tom, son of Mr. Brodus B. Buchanan of Staunton, Va. The’ceremony was performed at & o'clock in the country estate of the bride’s, parents, Alta Vista, at Beltsville, Md., by Rev. E. W. Rishell of Johnstown, Pa.,ssist- ed by Rev. Mr. Whittig of Beltsville, Md. Miss Carlotta Risdell of Johns- town, Pa. was' mald of homor, and the bridesmaids ' were Miss Hilda Berkey. of Pittsburgh. Miss Susie Beall and Miss Evelyn HaH of Belts- ville. Little Miss Ann Dove Moffett of this city was flower girl. M. Thobourne Roane of Baltimore was the best man, and the ushers were Mr. Milton Townsend and Messrs. Per- kins of Maryland. Mrs. John Beall of Bells\ ille played the wedding music. An improvised altar was erected heneath a giant oak on the lawn, be- fore which the ceremony was per- formed, and in the house golden rod and t\x!umn leaves were used for the Qdecoration. The bride wore a gown of white georgette crepe embroidergd in mold and carried bride roses and lilies of the valley. Her maid of honor was in georgette crepe shaded trom pale gold to deep rich bronze. Mrs. Beall, mather of the bride. who received with the wedding party, +wore a gown of black chantilly lace over black satin. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan will make their home in! the south, where the former is south- ern fleld representative of the Amer- ican Red Cross. Among' the out-of-town guests were Miss Louise Jones of North Carolina .and Miss Blanche Cathcart of Balti- more. The wmarriage of Miss Mary Preston Alexander McLenden. l son of Mr. and Mrs. McLenden n{ North Carolina, took place Thursday. ‘The ceremony was performed in the Washington home of the bride by Rev. John Lee Allison. pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church of Alex: Mrs. Seymour Crane, jr. sister of the bride, was matron of honor. and the best man was Dr. Dickinson, U. S. N. The house had a decoration of palms, ' ferns. white asters and pink roses. The bride wore white crepe de chine with a tulle veil held with orange blossoms and carried bride roses and llies of the valley. Her matron of honor was-in tangerine georgette crepe with a silver sash and carried Ophelia reses with delphinium. Mrs. Thompson, mother of the bride, wore whits and carried sweetheart roses. Dr. and Mrs. McLenden will be at home, on the conclusion of their wed- ding trip, in Annapolis, Md., where the former is now statloned. Among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. Morton and Mrs. Redfern of North Carolina, sisters of the bride- groom; Mr. and Mrs. Walter McLen- den, Mr. and Mrs. Miles G. Thompson of Pittsburgh, and a ntimber of friends of both bride and bridegroom from Annapolis. Miss Florence Eleanor Voelzel of Denver. Colo., and Mr. James Edward Kerr of. New York were quietly mar- ried in St. Stephen's Chorch Wednes- day afternoon. September 21. it 6 o'clock, Rev. Dr. George F. Dudley officiating in the presence of a small group of frlends of both parties. ‘The bride wore a charming gown of ‘white chiffon and lace and a picture hat of lavender mousseline trimmed in ostrich plumage. Her corsage bou- quet was of orchids and white roses. Miss Effie Beall attended the bride and wore a_ gown of pink-beaded georgette, a large hat of black lace braid and a corsage bouquet of Kilarney roses. Mr. B. T. Brown of New York was best man for Mr. Kerr.
