¢ P r— 20 INFURNITURE MURDER MOTIVE Duffendoll Says Slain Mother Had Refused Goods to Brother. By the Associated Press. EVANSVILLE, Ind., August 4.—Con- fessing to Warrick county officials, Willlam Duffendoll, aged nineteen years, is said to have charged his brother Dolly, aged twenty-two years, with the murder of their mother, Mrs. Laura Duffendoll, aged seventy years. The w body was found in a ‘woods near Hellman, Warrick county, yesterday. TI wo Immediately were taken into custody and questioning caused the younger to break down. Denying complicity in the crime himself, Willlam Duffendoll tol@ offi- cials that his brother Dolly killed the aged moth According to the al- leged confession, Dolly is engaged to ‘wed Miss Stella Shoptaugh, living near Booneville, Ind. The girl declared her flancee must furnish a home before the ceremony, and Dolly, Willlam said, asked his mother to give him _the furniture of the home place. The aged woman refused and a quarrel followed. Willlam is said to have told officers his brother killed the mother and planned to get the furniture to carry out his matrimonial plans. Willlam said his brother threatened to kill him if he told of the crime. A bullet wound indicated how the aged woman died. She had been missing for two weeks and the two sons claimed ignorance of her ‘whereabouts. The furniture, which is said to be the cause of the murder, was the con- tents of three small rooms and all of it is old-fashioned and dilapidated in type. Coroner Kriek of Warrick county says the entire lot would not bring 320 at an auction or second- hand store. THE WEATHER.
