Girls and Boys: What do { vou think. Capt. Arthur J. Headley of the Traffic Squad in Washington| wants every boy and girl in the Ju-} nior Travel Club to help keep_traffic| straight by keeping two rules them- selves. Capt. Headley has a big 10D here in Washington, and he calls upon our club everywhere to help, for as he said to me: “If this is a Travel Club, of course. you are interested in traffic, which is} 2 big problem in every city and get- ting bigger. Now there are two rules that should be-universal and the Ju- nior Travel Club can do_wonders. Here is rule one, Girls and Boys: “One, when you step off a curb look to the left always. “Two, when you get to the middle of the street look to the right al-) ways.” I said to Capt. Headley that sounds easy, but he said thousands of people do not dot it. If they would many accidents would be avoided. You s that plan would give you a look at anything coming either way. T told him I would ask every member of the Junior Travel Club to help in this, and 1 want vou to tell everybody you know. Capt. Headley said he would like to change the name of our club to Junior Traffic Club, which would leave thesame initials but 1 told lim we could not do that. Now everybody altogether on this and also do not play in the street. The Captain showed me the “light- house” between the Treasury and the White House. This light flashes day and night at one of the busiest cor- ners in Washington during certain hours. Just think this over J. T. C. mem- bers! Twenty thousand children un- der the age of fourteen vears are killed in accidents of one kind or an- other every year. The figures show more children die for accidental rea- sons than from epidemic diseases. Write me about the traffic in your town and organize to keep the two rules Capt. Headley gives the Junior Travel Club. RUSSEL L. BU E The Travelog B P. S—Who knows if Ben. lin's grave is marked and if Robert E. Lee was ever offered the command of the Union Army?
