to THE EVENING ‘Matters of Interest to the Wheelmen of the District. ‘The open weather thus far this wintor has made bicycling in this locality as enjoyable as im the spring and fall, and the bicyclists bave taken advantage of every good day and even- ing. The Nomad, Columbia and Arlington clubs have made their regular weekly runs al- most without interruption so far as the weather was concerned. The good weather lasting as it has bas increased the trade in bieycles and the dealer® are highly gratified with the sales. They have been much larger than anticipated, most of them being for boys and girls, to be given as Christmas presenta Bicycle riders are looking forward to the coming season with interest, as ther antictpate a series of enjoyable rides through the country, es well as riding over the concrete pavements. The new wheels for next year will be notice- able for two improvements. One is that they wilt have a longer wheel base and a longer ball socket steering. With these improvements it i claimed that there will be a reduction in the eight of the wheels aud at the sarue fimo they will possess fally the same amount of strengt! as the heavier ones. ‘The meeting of the L.A. W. last week was ‘an enthusiastic one and Chief Consul Dyer bas appointed the necessary committees lovking to securing the annual meet of the L. A. W. next summe® ‘The chief consul is sure of securing the necessary funds for the entertainment of the visitors in event of their coming here. ‘The use of the bicycle has become #o general that in many of the large buildings now erected ovision is made for a room for the wheels. Last week the Nomads rode to the Chain bridge, and during the ride Miss Collar met With an accident. Her wheel came in contact with the one ridden by Capt. Sandoe.and seven spokes were cut out. Upon their return to the y the members enjoyed an oyster supper at man’s. The run for tomorrow evening will be over the Woodley Lane road, and upon thetr return the members will be entertained at the resi- dence of Miss Mac Altemes. Meredith, has taken his seat in the House of Representatives. He is the successor of « long line of representatives from the Alex- andria district, Hichard Bland-Lee represented the district in 1799-95, and then came in turn Carter B.
