A more enjoyable afternoon has been rarely spent on the White House portico than that en- on Saturday by Mrs. Harrison's guests, who came in se to her invitation to listen to the Marine Band concert. The wadience was there fully an hour before the music began, and by the time the opening number was played the grounds were weil filled by an ap- Preciative gathering, some of whose pleasure ‘Was also centered in watching the company on ‘the balcony. A few of the latter came after 5 @clock and were soon joined by Mrs. Herrison, Mra McKee, Mrs. Dimmick and Mrs. Parker. Every new arrival seemed a surprise to those 'y gathered and all were expressing their Fe at seeing so many of their friends still town. Asso many were anxious to se Mrs MoKee on the eve of her departure, a number of the younger people in society were present, and the ‘reception ‘was turned into w zegular ovation for her. Everybody was begging « Mitle chat in s corner, and her afterncon was spent in ueceding to ese very reasonal Fequests. She was so much in demand that she was unable to preside at the daintily laid re freshment tables in the red room, where the servants of the household offered ‘seasonable dainties to all who entered its precincts. +g Mis, Harrison was looking unusually well in @ Diack china silk, flowered in wisteria blossoms and her black Ince hat had a becoming trim- ming of des. Mrs Meco had on a demi-toilet of black silk, flowered in green and combiued with black lace, made over olive silk. Her coquettish hat was of black lace and had pink buds and thick foliage trimming it. No one bade Mra. Harrison good evening without thanking her for having given them Sdelightful hour. The groom was aitended by hf friend, Mr. Hamilton of Omaha, ae best man, and when the music of the wed- ding march filled the cherch the bride entered with her cousin, Commander Coghlan of the navy, who gave her into the groom * keeping at the chancel. ,The altar was decked with pink and red roses. ‘The bride, who isa charming Young woman. was most becomingly dressed in dove gray bengaline. The jacket bodice was iy rounded and edged with ostrich feathers the same shade. She wore a small toque made of tulle and glistening with silver ornaments, After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Boyd drove back to Mrs. Logan's home, where the bride has been the guest lately of Mrs. Tucker, and changed her wedding dress for a traveling wn. newly married couple took the 1:40 train for New York, where they ure to reside. Mr. Boyd is a prominent banker of that city. His bride has been very popular in society here and was an active member of the Ladies’ Aid of the Garfield Hospital. Her father, Hon. Philip Fouke, was prominent in politics before and after the war and repre- sented Illinois in Congress. He was also a cap tain in Gen. Logan's army and the friendship between the two families has always been of the warmest character. Among those who were present at the wed- ding were Mr. and Mrs. Webster of Blooming- ton, Ill., the latter the bride's sister, Mej. aud Mrs. Tucker, Master Logan Tucker, Capt. Lemon, Mr. and Mra J. Paul Jones, Mr. and Mra. CM. Pepper, Mra Chas Clark, Mrs. John Moore, ex-Senator and Mrs. Kellogg, Mra Tulloch, Capt. and Mra Cunningham, Jadge Johnson, Mr. and Mra Johnsoa and Mra. Frank Kieckbofer. A small gathering of friends were present at the Memorial Lutheran Church at 11 o'clock this morning, when Miss Leila Frances Macomb and Mr. U.S Koulette were married. Rev. Dr. Butler performed the marriage ceremony. ‘The ushers were Mr. J. M. Schneider, Mr. C. J. Gross Close, Mr. A.M. Marshall and Mr. J. A. Oliver. The bride wore a traveling dress of tan col- ored camel's hair trimmed with pipings of brown velvet and gilt braid. Her black lace hat was trimmed with field flowers. She car- Tied a large bouquet of La France roses and wore diamond earrings, the groom's gift. Among those present were tne groom's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Roulette of Hagers- town, Md., Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Roulette, Mrs. Macomb, the bride's mother, Mrs. and the Misses Schneider, Mrs. Keed, Miss Bell, Mixs Henry, Mrs. Wilcox, Miss Frey, Mrs. Shedd, Drs. and the Misses Owen and Mrs. Schmidt. Mr. and Mrs. Roulette drove from the church to the depot. They started for New York, where they will stay a stort time. When they return they will reside with the bride's mother, Mrs. Macomb, on 30th street. Miss Harrietta Hallowell left Washington this morning to visit ber grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hawley of Boston. Mrs. ‘and Miss Hallowell will afterward visit Atlantic City be- fore returning to Washington. Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Lane and Mr. and Mra, Wi. N. Helm have returned from an extended tour through the various watering places of the south. The party, which consisted of nearly thirty young peopl left the city at 9 o'clock in a bus, arriving at the handsome country residence of their host, about seven miles from town, at 11 e'clock. where they partook of a handsome luncheon. After luncheon a ramble through the beautiful woods surrounding the home- stead was enjoyed. Rowing parties were the made up and the remainder of the afternoon was spent on the waters of Hock creek.running back of the farm, which at this point for some distance is quite wide.
