Further Details Regarding the Disorder tm France. Pants, May 2—Further partieulars recrived here in regard to the labor riot at Pourmies yesterday show that early last evening a mob composed of about 1,200 people carrying sticks and armed with revolvers surrounded the gendarmerie crying: “Down with the masters.” “Death to the master.” “We wantour brethres.” This last cry referred to the men arrested in the day for intimidating the men who refused to go out on strike. The mob then at- tacked the town hall, and the gendarmoes, sent there to t that building, fired their re- volvers inthe sir in order ‘to frighten the rioters, but without effect. The troops, with fixed bayonets. then ¢ hanged the mob and drove it away from the inte neighborhood of the town hall. The crowd, however, after being driven backward, retaliated by firing volleys of bricks and pieces of "paving stones at the troops, frequently strik~ ing the soldiers. After this proceeding the mob retreated for a while, but subsequently reappeared with increased numbers and made an attack upon the gendarmes A fierce con- flict took place between the gendarmes and the rioters in the rear of a church, daring which @ number of the former were placed horede- combat. A regiment of infantry was then sum- moned to the scene of the renewed disorder and an uprosrious scene followed, the crowds fighting band to hand with the police and soldiery. Finally, upon the rioters eraisting in their refusal to retire, the roldiers red, killing three people gutright and wound ® number of others. The soldiers, acting nhac eeale officers’ instructions and in order to avoid the taking of life, fired low, at the of the people, with the result that many lim| of rioters have been amputated as one result of the labor disturbances. After this severe lesson the mob fied and alll was comparatively quiet during the might. To- day there is a feeling of suppressed excitement throughout Fourmies. TROOPS IX PARIS ON GUARD. One hundred and twenty arrests were made in Paris yesterday in connection with the May day agitation. There was a marked absence of well-dressed people from the streets, and cially of ladies from the boulevards. | Shi was ata standstill. The troops in Paris re- mained on duty during the night and were partly relieved this morning, it quite apparent thet all danger ® mob outbreak was over. A number of the anarchist and socialist leaders arrested by order of M. Constans on Thureday night were released today, but all are retained in custody against whom there is evidence of having in- cited to riot. The police of Paris are not re- laxing their efforts to trace the auth of the revolutionary circulars distributed to the troops. It is stated that the government will eu- deavor to secure the couviction and tion to New Caledonia of all whomay be shown responsible for the attempt to undermine the loyalty of the military. M. Constans is in re of congratulations from all sides on his revention of what threatened to be serious blow to the republic. Should it be proven that Boulanger has had anything to de With the anarchist plots against the safety, the British government will be to refuse him any longer the privilege ae) om Itis known that on Monday Inst and through out the week frequent messages passed between Boulanger and his leading adherents in Paris, ANARCHIST PLOT IN ROME.
