Used Cars T.S.LINDSEY General Kelly-Springfield T IS a generally accepted fact that well-made tires or “shoes” and inner tubes are literally the foundstion of automobile transpor- tation. ‘The first thing that most amateur motorists try to learn about is tires. Their care, conservation, or econom- ical buying with thought of mileage, is a matter of considerable impor- tance. For the veteran motorist as well as the amateur, tires represent the biggest item in the cost of main- taining an automobile. It occurs to me that the familiar quotation, “A fool and his money jare soon parted,” well describes the ee of a large majority of the in- experienced tire purchasers. Auto- mobile extravagance is based of- tener on the buying of tires and tubes without character than any other department of automobiling. The well-made tire represents actual cash invested. It has its fixed value, and do not let anybody per- suade you to the contrary. Beware of anyone who tells you that he can sell you “this tire cheaper and just as good.” It has no name on it that you ever heard before. “But it is made by a big factory,” says he, “and they sell it to me cheaper.” Such ‘talk is misrepresentation and cheating. Attractive and useful articles for the car wrapped ready for the Christi tree are being featured by practically every accessory house in Casper. Remember the car deserves a little Christmas, too. R. The attractive salesroom at the Casper Motor company Is eliciting more than the usual amount of favorable comment from the general public and shows off in a striking style many of the outstanding ap pearance qualities of the Chrysler Four. The Casper Motor company re- ports that three Chrysler Fours will be standing in front of three happy Casper homes on Christmas morn- ing. And by the way, Mr. Johnson wishes the public to know that ef- fective immediately the Chrysler Four will be known as the Chrysler 58, and the Chrysler Six as the Chrysler 70. The number of cylin ders is to be disregarded altogether in the name. Welcome to our Jong lost brother. C. They will be delivered soon, so drop in and lodk them over right now. The salesroom will be open on Sunday. We cannot praise the Christmas display at the Bix Six Motor com- pany too strongly. It fairly breathes the proper spirit and must have taken a full week's work on the part of the employes. Several orders for spring delivery on Overland and Willys Knight cars have been taken at the Lee Doud Motor company. The efforts of K, C. Tatlock, spe- clal representative of the Platte-Faw. cett Motor company, of Denver, to line up a Casper dealer for these two cars, have meet with ‘only me- diocre success. Several local busi- ness men have expressed themselves as in favor of the proposition, but have fafled to sign the final papers which will make them Wyoming dealers. Mr. Tatlock wishes It understood that it will not require any great amount of capital to “land” the local representation of the Page and Jew- ett. Until the Denver distributor tinds a Casper dealer, the Lee Doud Motor company, former representa- tives will continue to sell and service Jewett and Paige cars. The advent of the new day Jowett or smaller car, should make this Proposition even more attractive than it formerly appeared. The car fits correctly into the popular $1,000 price class and should be an excel- lent seller in any community, Back- ed by the Paige-Detroit Motor com- pany, and with the qualities of the other Jewett built into its slightly lighter body, it bids fair to take its place near the top of the list of ight sixes in sales and performance, It {s the earnest desire of the Paige Detroit company to engage a Casper dealer before show time in February. Some one must be inter- ested in the proposition. Mr. Tat- lock {s not now in the city, but will probably be here in a few days. WINTER SALES OF FORDS UP All records for early winter Ford sales were broken during November when 146,788 passenger cars and trucks were delivered to retail cus- tomers in the United States. This js an increase of approximately 25,000 over the November sales a year ago. Another evidence of the popular- ity of the improved Ford passenger: cars is shown in the enrollments in the Ford Weekly Purchase Plan, which have risen to unprecedented numbers.
