A new book adding lustre to the rich and mellow romance of early Wyoming and its Indian and trooper days has just come from the press. It is by Major Alson B. Ostrander, late of New York City, now a resi- dent of Seattle, who Inst summer was in Casper for a few days. At that time he revisited the ‘old trails and scenes of his boyhood while a trooper stationed at Fort Reno and Fort Phil Kearney, sixty years be- fore. His book 1s entitled “Sixty Years After," and {s a sequel to dis previous book, “An! Army Boy of the Sixties.” In his former publication, which has been on sale in Casper and Mid- west the past year, Major Ostrander reviewed his experiences while in army service toth east and west and that portion relating to Wyoming posts is extremely interestfng to every lover of the early western period when the human tide was sweeping westward and experiencing thrills of danger rarely known in this day and age. Major _Ostrander’s new bos ter Sixty Years,", relates to his journey westward in the early sum- mer of this year during which time he stopped at Cheyenne, Casper and Sherfdan, and he describes _ most vividly and interestingly nis impres- sions and observations after visiting the hietorle spots which he knew as er Sixty Years,” like his book, “An Army Boy of the cannot fail to be of im- pelling interest to the boy and adult alike. It is a sidelight on the early days in Wyoming which every per- son should possess, and be kept in the library of every Wyoming home. In the preparation of his book Major Ostrander has had the splen- did advice and assistance of the ven- erable pioneer o Bagley of Seatt sued several histori which are valuable early western annals, The volume contains 36 halftone illustrations which add materially to the value of the book. Probably no less interesting than Major Ortrand- publications with a Frantz Certificate.
