HEN one hears the word ‘‘taf- feta’’ one can almost hear the soft, mysterious breath of spring—crisp, crinkly, crackling. The whispering of the fresh green leaves— newborn. The mild rustling of silk. Spring, Easter and freshness mean TAFFETA. look at the tuffeta dresses illus- trated on this page. One can almost hear their rustle. Two of them are for evening wear and one, of course, for the daytime. But that is the beauty of taffeta. It is so useful, so adaptable, so really necessary. It breathes youth, spring, dancing and lightiiess. And there are so many wonderful colors one may choose from. For in- formal and more practical wear there are the usual blacks, navy and gray. But then, too, there are parchment shades, ecru, champugne, rust, wis- taria, Chinese blue and periwinkle. There «are the printed taffetas. Printed pussy willows in shades of red, blue, green and mauve are effec- tive and there are any number of Patterns one may pick from. © Combinations of colors are invited when one wants to combine taffeta with some other material. For in- stance, the one illustrated is a com- bination of taffeta and velvet. This may be made of harmonizing shades of one color, or two colors may be blended effectively. Blue and = gold, or yellow and black are two combin- ations which have been tried this season, and most successfully. Georgette and taffeta are, and have been, a happy mating. Milady who is slim is particularly fitted for the taffeta dresses which are being shown with the tight fitting Dbasques and the bouffant, circular skirts. These basquces may be pointed in front and back, or they may be cir- cular, as the dress illustrated. Basqites may be made of tuffeta with straight laced fronts.
