All frimly be lieve that 1921 js the ye for autome- hile shows, this optimism being fully reflected by the arrivala in town. Anticipation that New York is about to lead the trade to greater thing with its show is imbued tn the minds of the visitors, and a campaign of rea activity is planned by many after the exposition comes to an end. Many factors cotphine to make those aMiliated with the automobile industry optimistic, The principal one is the feeling that the United States headed for a long pertod of prosperit: puilt on sane « 1 tine point carrying with inflat - tions broaght on by the war, The mblic, in the op! many, will pein to buy whan ous commoditins reas f ievel, and when starts again the automobile among tne to benefit. A factor and a big one is that the unsold cara in the country comprise only one or two months’ supply under ordinary conditi , and that a spring shortage Is by no meany improbable, ‘Then, again, the replacement demand has not by any means disappeared, and when this ts Into i! activity wxains there js bound to be marked stimulation to business. IMPROVEMENTS AND REFINEMENTS MARK UPMOBILE MODELS Certain noteworthy improvements and refinements in finish, fittings and general appearance mark the Hup- mobile exhibit at the New York Show i a centre of attraction for Hupmo- bile owners and those other motorists who admire the car and its twelve- year record. This four-cylinder chassis of the present model, first produced in Oct ber, 1917, now embodies numerous minor improvements in design and manufacture developed since that time, It has been thoroughly tested and approved in the hunds of over 59,000 owners, and reached such a de- gree of mechanical perfection that Hupmobile engineers have felt free to concentrate more closely on appear- al body design and equipment de- tail All four open, and closed models are presented in new body designs, one of the most noticeable being the new four-door sedan On the touring car and roadster, the top shape is new, The rear win- dow is one unusually wide piece of plate glass, giving clear vision and adding a distinctive touch of good looks. Convenient entrance and exit, already assured by wide doors, is made doubly so by both outside and inside door handles, Fenders have been lengthened, and their slightly changed design add greatly to their appearance, ‘The familiar rubber windshield cleaner—universally asknowledged as a rainy weather necesaity—is etand- ard, as are non-glare lenses and casily adjustable headlights, mating pleasanter night driving in any bad weather, ‘The new and distinctive Hupmobile rear lamp, illuminates a distance of fifty feet when’ backing. The roadster, possessing unusual smartness of design is made even more practical for husiness or travel- ling use by two large luggage com- partmenta—one back of the seat, the other in the rear desk. ‘he four door sedan will receive many favorable comments by thos who appreciate {ts combination of good taste and conservation with fashionable body Hines The Hupmo tule Company contro! the plant mak- ing their cloned bodies, thus insuring | | 4 consistently high standard of qual- ty and workmanehip, “THOROBRED” MODEL TO BE CONTINUED| ar member.of the Lexington y's series “'S" line the horobred”—will be continued by the company. 1 sport model has a dash of the entional, ut ne whi \ appeals to the discriminating moorist.
