In an effort to swindle the dia- troased relatives of Dwight F. Mal- lory, clubman and crack shot of Baltimore, who disappeared when his motorboat wae wrecked in a #torm on Chesapeake Bay threo weeks ago, William Rickson, fake private de- tective and ex-convict, has confessed to the Newark, N. J., police that he impersonated Mallory. While relatives of the missing man were secking Mallory’s body, Rick- eon, with an ex-convict he met on Mlackwell’s Island, were calling Mal- lory's friends on the telephone to create the Impression he was alive. The mystery might never have been solved but for a young woman of acute memory. Mrs. Mallory had about given her husband up for lost when she was notified by the police of Baltimore last Thursday that a man who sald he was her husband had called Polloe Headquarters and said he was alive.
