TORE TE WAES “NBIG CARNAL Beauties of Women’s Life Saving League to Show Prowess in Ocean, um & pee FOOD FERMENTATION AT MANHATTAN BEACH. Genuine _ Life " Savers Will Swim, Dive and Do Mar- vellous Water Stunts. Beauty will disport in the waves at Manhattan Beach Saturday after- noon. Between 3 and 5 o'clock one hundred young women will revel in an aquatic carnival on the beach and in the ocean, under the auspices of the National Women's Life Saving League. Now come up for air and listen: These girls are not the type that hangs on to the rope and screams every time she is embraced by a wave, Oh, no! They're the kind of girls who go out and meet the wave half way, jump on top of it, dive un- der it and swim through it. They can swim and dive and do lots of things in the water. A lot of them are life-aavers. Yea, sir! Don't think you're going to see a lot of amateur Annette Kel- lermanns with life preservers, Every girl ls her own life preserver. Some of the swimmers have national repu- tations and bave distinguished them- selves at various aquatic carni throughout the country. One of them ig Miss Adeline Trapp, who swam through Hell Gate in last August. The organization is composed of women well known in Brooklyn so- clety, ay well as members of the Brooklyn Teachers’ Association. There will be sixteen aquatic events, and in these the dashing young women in fetching attire will give an exhibition well worth seeing. There will be swimming dashes and high amd fancy diving, fetching under ‘water and endurance contests, and there will be feats of peril and dar ing. The commiitee having supervision over the sports comprise Miss Kathe- rine Mehrtens, Miss Florence Weat, od Elsio Veits, Mise L, Marrin and law Adeline Trapp. There are prises for each event, and rivalry among the fair daughters of Neptune has roused to battlefield heights.
