Smith in the trial of Mortche Goldberg, one of the quartette of alleged Vice Trust magnates who were indicted In 1913 and fled the country. Goldberg, who was arrested four months ago upon his return from South America, will be tried before Judge Malone in Gen- eral Sessions, It is understood that Goldberg has —— been refused assistance by those to whom he ts alleged to have patd thousands of dollars and by the men he is charged with having represent- ed as the go-between for the police and disorderly house keepers. It was testified before the Grand Jury that indicted Goldberg and his associates that the trust conducted thirty-two disorderly houses in the Tenderloin from Elghteenth to For- tieth Street in which 1,600 women were inmates.
