And the Supply Has Hardly Kept Pace With the Demand! In Spite of This We Have Assembled Enormous Collections of Black Furs Of Dependable Quality at Moderate Prices Besides---Tomorrow We Will Present Specia} Col- lection of Black Fox Furs at Prices that Are Absurdly Small---$15 to $26.50 Will Purchase Either Scarfs or Muffs Months ago when our representative was in Europe collecting fine furs for this season all the leading furriers of Europe predicted an unusual vogue of black furs. This was seconded by the great fashion designers of Paris. When our expert was in Europe last Summer he left nothing undone to get the best models. When he returned he set American furriers busy copying po and the result is that people who wish the finest black furs come to Wana- maker's. Every day we add new collections of black furs, so that our assemblage is always complete-—with the Choicest black lynx, Finest black fox—all from the Yukon country and the far Northwest. Black wolf—-some so choice that it looks like black lynx. We have none of the flat, dull sorts. . Black cat lynx, which is very good-looking, durable and quite inexpensive. Black raccoon-——a very special collection of unusually fluffy rich furs. Prices are too many to quote, but in every instance extremely moderate. Extraordinary Collection of 280 Sets of Fine Black Fox for Tomorrow Every scarf and every muff is choice fox. Excellently dyed and every piece of fur is beautiful and fluffy. This is rather an unexpected event, but one of the leading furriers of New York—the man who is renowned for his high standard of choice black fox furs —closed out to us a surplus collection. We were very glad to get these furs, because they will make such beautiful Christmas gifts. Either scarfs or muffs at $15, $16.50 and $23. These may be selected in beautiful matched sets, or we will be pleased tosell either scarfs or muffs separately. Fur Salons, Second floor, Old Building. The Finely Bound and_Rare Book Alcove Just Off the Extensive Book Section, on the Main floor, Along the 10th street Side of the Store is a corner rather exclusive and most inviting to people of leisure who care for beau- tiful bindings, old books, first editions and rare editions. Many people have an impres- sion that fine books are an extravagance, but in many instances they cost very little more than the commoner bindings. Thus far, this little quiet: corner has been the resort of a few people that have stumbled into it, who have found it to be a bonanza. To their surprise they have learned of our system of visiting the old book shops of England and Scotland, and gathering in odd and rare books, which we have had the satisfaction of selling at moderate prices because of our otherwise large all-the-year-round book business. Many book lovers come once a week and frequently find, from the incoming ships, something of interest among books odd, rare and first editions, some exquisitely bound, and some plainly bound, and some finely illustrated. The man who wants to collect a real library, browses around a great deal picking up single volumes, little sets of two and three volumes, and rare editions of large sets of the old and favorite standard authors, : To many, the little out of the way fine book corner is a welcome surprise and a revelation. Sometimes we find that the same editions have gone into the auction rooms, and follow up the sale to find that a knowing collector has received many times our prices by selling them at auction. We are not jealous of the profit that some one else gets, because our method is to make fair and moderate prices and get back again to Dublin, London, Liverpool, Birmingham and wherever there are col- lectors, to lay in a fresh stock and strip them of their old bindings and turn them over to the master craft of English binders, who are artists in their profession. It will interest those who read this advertisement to see the many copies of books we have that are illustrated by Cruikshank, Phiz, Leech, Birket Foster and many other illustrators of the Georgian and early Victorian eras. ‘ Ainsworth, Harrison.
