Shirring and Mexican Drawn Work Are the Distinctive Features of the 1903 Spring Girl’s Costume. HOLD the Easter gown in all its glory. In less than five weeks comes Easter Sunday, the official opening of spring. The swallows may be here before April 12, the hyacinths and tulips may bloom in the city parks before that time, but until the Easter girl has flaunted her mew gokn and hat on Fifth avenue or its fashionable by-ways spring will mot have arrived, Now, the Haster girl varies with the Easter pocketbook. That ‘bank roll which is large and fat will deplete itself by paying a large sum to a fashionable tailor or dressmaker for a creation specially designed for its owner. The less ample purse of the woman who, after a day's riotous shop- ping, must pucker her brows in dismay at the sum total of her expenditures, as with pad and pencil she jots them down, will make its Easter offering ‘to one of the lange dry-goods stores for a ready-made gown. But the little @batelaine containing the savings of the girl who works for her living, @arefully hoarded for the purchases of Waster finery, will empty itself for the purchase of material and trimming which she will herself meke up or will leave to the skilful fashioning of a loving mother or sister. To all of these girls these very beautiful and instructive Easter gowns, te Ghe Waiting eye, and ehe crept close to him and locked ‘her arms around his neck. “I want to be your Uttle sister. And presently a young girl came up the path that led from the road, Her face was fair; her eyes were blue; her hair, hanging down her back, was black as cbony. The waist of the inevitable blouse shape has a wide bertha of Chantilly lace dyed brown to match the chiffon extending almost to the waist line, Under this are lace accordion-plaited sleeves of Nilé green chiffon reaching to the elbow, whence tight transparent cuffs of brown chiffon with incrusta- tions of lace continue, forming the three-quarter sleeve dear to the heart of the French dressmaker, These sleeves show unmistakably that the puff which began two years ago at the wrist and reached stealthily last year to the elbow in the mando- Mn puff is slowly and surely regaining its old prominence and size of 1894, The trailing skirt is of accordion-plaited chiffon with irregular incrus- tations of the dyed lace over green chiffon, ending in a deep simulated flounce of borwn satin cloth, which also has the transparent insertions of lace, through which there fs a glint of green, The second illustration shows a loose cout of more than three-quarter of Jim Gordon—By Edgar W: Cooley. The coat falls from the shoul- ders in straight kimona fashion and has a wide collar extending well over tho sleeves, appliqued with white Irish lace and trimmed with silk fringe, which {s seen on many of the new garments. The large bishop sleeves are accordion-plaited, ending in a narrow cuff trimmed with lace. A beautiful house and reception gown of blue crepe de chine combines two of the latest features for the coming season, shirring and Mexican drawn work. f: The waist has a simulated yolk of ecru drawn work, which extends in a wide panel to the very hem of the gown. This yoke extends to within two inches of the shoulder line, whence the crepe de chine is shirred half way to the elbow of the sleeves, whence the fulness is allowed to fall in a large puff. From the elbow the sleeves are tight and are ornamented with narrow pin tucks and an edging of lace, The skirt is shirred deeply about the hips and less deeply above and below the knees, It continues the panel effect of drawn work down on the waist. Both waist and skirt show on this panel novel trimming of cut- out squares of appliqued crepe de chine, through which long ends of black velvet ribbons, finished with gold threads and balls, are drawn. The next gown is of biscuit-colored cloth sultable for street wear. The blouse, cut out at tho neck in a square, which shows a shirred under-waist of white chiffon, falls loosely in graduated Monte Carlo to below the belt of SUPERFLUOUS HAIR Removed by a New Principle. more than iH can ever hope to are the “The examiner rived The Only Method Indorsed by Physicians, Surgeons, Der. matologists and Medi- cal Journals. told me wos "ine besinring. or ny, pig feel my heart bea! w I had @ soul. and L years went by, I had strange, “As the dreams.
