Then followed a period of silence, and it was not until the sharp cries of the girl's mother upon finding her dead body rang through the tenement that the tragedy was announced. J., March 9.— Life savers at HerefoMl wand Cold Spring stations, half way between At- lantic City and Cape May, to-day re- port the drifting ashore of the deck, upper works and some rigging of a ship. Part of the deck came on the beach at each station, the two being about six miles apart. No name can be found on any of the wreckage, but the life savers say it is evidently that of a coasting schooner or a converted barge. Word has been sent along the coast and @ close watch Is being kept for some other part of the vessel, which has evidently been wrecked and sunk so far off at sea as to be out of sight of the life-saving patrol.
