The good of the order committee of the Improved Red Men of this city at a meet- ing held last wezk arranged for a grand entertainment to be gjven in Golden Gate Hall on the night of March 3L # B The Maccabees. One of the most popular men in Gold- en West Tent of the Knights of the Maccabees is Grant C. Freeman, its rec- ord keeper. At the recent eleetion for officers he was re-elected for the four- teenth consecutive term with but slight opposition. He became a member of the order in April, 1899, and with the exception of three months has been the record keeper of the tent in° which he holds his membership. During that time he has been on many very impor- tant committees, and in every instance his work with them, as in all other matters connected with the tent, has been marked for fidelity and conscien- tious discharge of duty. He was oneof the prime movers in the organization of Golden West Division, No. 13, of the Uniform Rank, and after serving in minor positions in the rank, was ad- vanced to the position of captain two years ago, and he is still the command- ing officer. At the last session of the Great Camp of the order held in Los Angeles he was elected great ser- geant of that body, which office he still fills. He is affable, courteous and as obliging a record keeper as ever held office 4n the order, and has the happy faculty of making friends at every turn. His work for the order has at- tracted the attention of several of the other fraternal organigations in this city, ané recently several of these have offered him a position on the board of directors. He may accept one of these offerse. He is a native of this State, born in 1869, and occupies a position of trust in one of the large mercantile houses of this city, The officers of San Francisco Tent were installed last Friday night by H.
