B. Biaglo, the scavenger who was stabbed at a dance at 32 Oakwood street on Sunday night, October 29, is eaid to pe dying. The present bridge is in a bad con- dition and is regarded as dangerous/n view of the heavy teaming traffic, Algeltinger believes that the cost of repairing the old bridge would be more advantageously used in building an entirely new bridge, which he esti- mates will cost $50,000. He will en- deavor to have the incoming Board of Supervisors set aside the amount in the municipal budget, which will be adopt- ed next June. Algeltinger also proposes to recom- mend that the width of the sidewalks on. Sixth street from Townsend to Kentucky be reduced from nineteen to fourteen feet, which will widen the roadway of the street by ten feet.' This will be a great accommodation to teaming traffic. He will make a sim- ilar recommendation that the width of sldewalks on .eventh street from Townsend southerly be reduced for the same reason. The Board of Works has granted per- mission to the Southern Pacific Com- pany to grade for credits the roadway of Mississipp! street from Twenty-fifth to Army streets and also from Twenty- fifth street northerly along the line of its bay shore cut-off. The fact that there is a scarcity of basalt blocks In the local market has resulted in inquiries from quarrymen as far away as Portland as to the pos- sibility of placing orders for the blocks with contractors in this ecity. It is cal- culated that the blocks can be landed here by water for practically the same price as by quarries in and adjacent to San Francisco. In that event the de- lay In proposed street work will be in a measure obviated. The proposed paving of Minna and Stevenson streets will require several hundred thousand basalt block: JUDGE LAWLOR GRANTS PETITION OF HUTTON Removes Administratrix of Estate of Former Com- missioner’s Wife. An order heretofore issued by Judge Lawlor appointing Edith M. 8. Raine spe- clal administratrix. of the estate of the late Inez Sexton Hutton was set aside by Judge Lawlor yesterday on petition of ex- Police Commissioner Hutton. Judge Ker- rigan-will now hear Hutton's petitfon for letters of administration‘in the place of the removed administratrix. Shortly after Mrs. Hutton's death Mrs. Raine filed a will of the deceased, in which ‘Hutton was practically disinher- ited, and her petition for special letters of administration thereunder was grant- ed. To this Hutton Instituted a contest, but later presented -for probate a letter written to him by his wife and bearing date subsequent to that of the will, in which letter Mrs. -Hutton stated lll.,t it was her desire for her husband to have all of her property. This letter, con- tended Hutton, constituted a valid testa- ment, and he offered it as the last wilt of the deceased. An opposition to the probate of this let- ter, was filed by Mrs. Raine and other heirs of the deceased and this contest is now awaliting trial. After filing the “let- ter will” Hutton petitioned Judge Lawler to revoke his order appointing Mrs. Raine special administratrix. Counsel r#pre- senting Mfs. Raine objected to her re- moval and applied to the District Court of Appeal for a writ of prohibition to pre- vent her remoyval, the ground being that Judge Lawlor had no right to remove the administratrix without a showing of im- proper conduct on her part. The appel- late court held otherwise, however, de- ciding that the court had the right to re- move an administrator at will. Judge Lawlor then yielded to the impor- tunities of Hutton and removed Mrs. Raine. Hutton’s petition to be appointed in her place must be determined upon regular hearing before Judge Kerrigan, to whose department of the Superior Court the case has been assigned. f RE KODAK Developing If you buy your films of me § or have me do your photo printing.
