THE NATIONAL UNION. The San Francisco Cabinet of the Na- tional Union at its February meeting had & good attendance and the mittee on extension of the order presefMted a re- port in which there is a suggestion for an immense fraternal event to take place in this city. Consideration of this was laid over until the next meeting. It also suggested a large class initiation which will probably be inaugurated in July. There was also & recommendation that the local councils offer a prize to each member who shall in an unlimited period have had initiated into his council either three or five candidates. During the session H. L. Simon, on be- half of the cabinet, presented a silver t service to C. Schuldt, the retiring president, in recognition of his services in the chair. INDEPENDENT FORESTERS. On the evening of February 23 High Chief Ranger O. 8. Cooper of the Inde- pendent Order of Faresters paid a visit to Court Napa No. 640 at Napa City. He was accompanied by Frank Gorham, James Robertson, George Jewett, R. Cleg- horn and Stewart Allen of Court Solano of Vallejo. During the evening the high chief ranger contributed $10 to a fund that is being raised for the purpose of purchasing regalia for the court. In addi- tion the high chief ranger gave the offi- cers an interesting talk about the order and gave them sound advice for the pur- pose of adding to the membership of the court, This court now has thirty-six members, and a numbes of strangefs are to be initiated in the near future.
