The Vindicator mine of Colorado paid a divi. dend of 5 cents per share, or $0,750, on the 20th. The Republic mine of Washington paida divi- dend of 3 cents per share, or $30,000, on the 10th. The Plumbago mine, near Allegheny, Shasta County, California, patd its first dividend of 15 cents per share, or $45,000, this month. A 10-stamp mill, electric plant’ and twenty-five men are employed. The Central Light and Power Company has declared a dividend of all the shares of the Equitable Gaslight Company owned by the former company, subject to the pooling ar- rangement now in force. Pursuant to the pay- ment the stock will be placed in escrow. The Van Winkle-Romaine Hardwood Lumber Company of San Francisco, whose timber lands are in Arkansas, has levied an_assessment. of 55 cents per share, delinquent February 2. The Chollar assessment of 10 cents per share will be dolinquent in the boards to-day. The Andes assessment of 5 cents per share :’lldl be delinquent in the company’s office o-day. The work of repairing the 1750 station of the C. & C. shaft under the auspices of the Com- stock Pumping Company Association will be completed this week. A new nk will be placed in the bob pit station on that level to catch the seepage water of tne mine, so that it cannot escape to the levels to be drained. The shaft is ready to receive the pressure pipe. The bulkheads are intact on the 1750 and 1650 stations, and no gas s found to be escaping from the Ophir shaft. In the Ophir mine no underground work has been done through the Ophir shaft. In the old Central tunnel the north drift is in nineteen feet. The face is In quartz carrying iron and lead sulphides, but the assays show no gold or silver. Repalirs continue in the north lateral branch of the Sutro tunnel. In the Sierra Nevada mine the northwest drift from the station on the 140-foot level is in 634 feet. The face is In porphyry. On the 600-foot level the south drift from the top of the raise 80 feet above that level is in 25 feet. The face 18 in porphyry and quartz. In the Chollar and Potosl mines no work was done underground during the past week. Re- Pairs to the combination shaft have been re- sumed. In the Utah Consolidated mine the west drift from the main tunnel is in elghty-two feet. It i8 passing through a hard granite formation stratified with small seams of quartz giving low assays.
