Yesterday morning about 30'clock Mrs. Emily Williams was found dead upon the kitchen floor of her residence, 2418 Piorco street, by her husband, John Wil- liams. Mrs. Williams has been subject to feinting spells for some time. Monday eve. Mr. Williams went to bed supposing of course that his wife would soon follow him. Yesterday a. m. about 3 o'clock he was awakened by the crying of one of the children, and not finding his wife in bed went to look for her. Upon entering the kitchen he found hor lying upon her side on the kitchen floor in a lifelesscondition. A physician was hastily summoned but the lady was pronounced dead. The coroner was notified and went to the house but did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest, the sup- position being that the lady died from some heart trouble. The deceased was 41 years of age. The funeral will take place this after- noon at 2 o'clock, from the residence, 2418 Pierco street. ——— Ho First Turned Hot and Then Cold. The citizens living upon Howard street between Fourteenth and Fifteenth streets are justly indignant ai having the street upon both sides filled with farmers wag- ons loaded with hay, from morning until night. Yesterday as many as fifteen hay wagons were upon that block. If memo- ry serves us rightly an order was issued last fall that all hay wagons should be confined to Fourteenth streot betweon Howard and Jackson troets, and for a time an office tioned at Howard and Fourteenth streets and all drivers wero made to drive their wagons where the order designated, but it seems to be entirely forgotten now. It is & decided inconvenienceto the residents of Howard street as it is impossible to get a carrioge any where near the side- walk, Beside this it is converting one of the principal thoroughfares of the city into a veritable barnyard, covered with hay and other litter. e —— Send for samples and prices of Chil- drens and Boys suits, Large assortment, All ages 4 to 1D years. A Dead Nan Fomd in @ elar o0 “ Bleventh Stregt Yesterday Morning. His Feet Cnul;fl ll:ll‘ lihl"nvl‘ Buried in the Sand—T Body Not Yet Identified, It seems that the destroying angel of death, in a violent form, has put in an appearance in Omaha and that to remain, Three coroner's inquests in one day is something a little unusual in Omaha and yot that is the number over which Coroner Maul was called to preside yesterday. The latest sensation was the finding of the body of a dead man in an open cellar on Eleventh street, just north of the steam laundry, yesterday a.m.shortly before b o'clock. Officer Donovan was walking his beat and as he approached the cellar he be- held the BODY OF A MAN, his feet up, his knees caught over a piece of plank, and his face buried in the sand at the bottom of the cellar. The officer immediately went for the coroner and upon his arrival the body was taken out and carried to the under- taking rooms of.Drexel & Maul, In the pocket of the dead man was found thirty cents, but not a scrap of paper of any kind by which he could be identified was found, and as yet no one has visited the place who can IDENTIFY THE REMAINS, He was a man_apparently about forty years of age, had a heavy mous- tache, slightly mixed with gray, about five feet, seven or eight inches in height. He had on a brown pair of pants and a blue-check shirt, The mid- dle finger of the left hand had been taken off at the second joint. This is the only description that can be given and if any boarding house keeper or others have known ot a man who tallies with above description they will confer a favor by calling at tho coroner’s office and making the fact known. Many were the rumors afloat morning as to the probable cause of the man’s death. Some thought that HE HAD BEEN MURDERBD and thrown into the cellar, but this is not probable as there are no marks upon the body or head which would indicate violence. This it seems would set at rest all theories of foul play. The most likely thoory is that the man was Intoxicated and in passing by the cellar, stumbled and fell in, his legs be- coming entangled in such a manner as to render him utterly powerless to extricate himself and with his face buried in the sand he smothered. The place where he had fallen inisa yery dangerous one. While there isa board nailed up across and in front of the excavation there is a very bad hole at the inside edgo of the sidewalk which leads directly nto the cellar. The hole is fully large enough to admit of a man falling through it, and as tho body was found in that corner it is very likely that it was through this hole the man fell. | ——— ARE Yoil GOING UROPE? 1n another column will be found the an nouncement of Messrs, THOS, COOK & SON ‘Yourist Agents, 261 Broadway, New York, relative to the very complete arrangements they have made for tours in Furops the coming Spring and Summer. “Cook’s Excur- sionist,” containing maps and full particulars, wfllhbn mailed to any uhdreu on receipt of 10 cenf Saratoga Notes, While driving into the city last week, Mus. Analarm was turned in from box 42, but the firo was extinguished without turning on a stream. The fire was found # be in the cellar at the bottom of the elevator among some paper and boxes. It had not yet burst into a flame, but looked as if it had been smouldering for some time. How it originated is not known, as all the employes left the store at six in the evening, At 12:36 another alarm was turned in from box 43, The cause of this alarm was located in one of Tom Murray's houses, in the alley connecting 8th and Oth streets, between Douglas and Dodge. Tho house was tenanted by a colored man, who thinks it was set on fire from the outeide. Reed, the tenant, says threats have been made to burn him out, and he thinks an attempt was made last night to carry them into execution. The fire was put out before the department arrived. The horse was unhurt, but the buggy was badly damaged. Mrs. Hitchcock of Mitchell, Dak., has been visiting her father Mr. W. H. Law- ton. This precinct was on Thursday visited by a severe hailstorm; the damage done fruit troe and gaaden produce in general in this neighborhood is in consequence very great. Many large trees have suffer- ed considerably from the high wind which prevailed at the time, and several were uprooted. The loss to gardeners here will be heavy. Several new dwelling houses have been erected here recently and others will soon be built. A seven acre tract of land has just changed hands, and the purchaser proposes building thereon at an early date. At the schoolhouse on Sunday evening the Rev. Geo. Pelton addressed the peo- ple of Saratoga, There was a full at- tendance, and the reverend gentleman’s remarks were appreciated by all presant. e —— Ask your druggist for Redding's Russia Salve, * Keop it in the houso in case of acci- dents.
