A number of young people from this place were in New London last week to bid farewell to the soldier boys who left for Camp Devene, Thursday. Those who answered to the roll call from | Bozrah were: Harry Lathrop, Joseph Rivers, Patrick Kelley, JoHn e and Charles Coughlin. Tho local boys were taken by friends or relatives to New London ‘in automobiles and Judging by the remembrances the boys carried away, their friends did not forget them’ on their departure. James Holdridge who owns the Jacob Gallup farm in -town, also owns a sawing and threshing machine. Mr. Toldridge lives alone and while do- ing some repairing to his enzine Sat- urday evening by Aantern light, in some way the flame came in contact with the g-woline in his engine and an explosion occurred. Mr. Holdridge was burned yuite badly and his shed where the engine is stored took fire. He telephoned to Mystic and the Old Mystic Chemical company came in a| hurry. Neighbors turned out to fight the flames. The house caught fire but that was put out and the house saved. The shed was completely burned to- gether with -his engine.. His _ barn chught fire and one end was burnéd off. The Old Mystic Chemical com- pany, together ‘with the neighbors, did heroic work. or all of his buildings|motored Sunday would have been burned.
