Editor Nonpartisan Leader: Please allow me to say a few words in your valuable paper. ' The . present _talk among our laboring men and the public in general i8 how can we manage to buy our necessities of life direct from the producer; or in other words, why can’t we organize a plant” to have the REAL PRODUCER pro- duce for us, for our own use? Why must we pay profits to the wholesaler, retailer and other unnecessary ex- penses? 1§ The fact ig well known'that the wholesaler earns 20 per -cent profit and the retailer 30 per cent to 50 per cent. In other words, if a suit of clothes is sold by the manufacturer for $10 we pay for same $18 to $20, and it is the same with other articles. It is true that the wholesaler and re- tailer must make these profits:in or- der to meet expense, but during these times of forcing economy, and we can not forget what Emerson said— ‘‘self preservation is the greatest law”’ —we naturally come face to face with the question, “How can we save”? . -I was informed by a clothing busi- ness an and an old labor friend that with $15,000.a clothing manufactory " could be established and with $5,000 more, all other merchandise of every description could be supplied at just little above factory prices.* And no doubt, the more capital is invested in such an enterprise, the less the goods would cost and more could be accom- plished for our own benefit. I was very much enlightened with the facts hé gave me and his explana- tions, and must say that unless we act at once, get together and do some- thing, we will just continue to hand over our hard earned money to some- one else. M. H. HALL. THE MAKING \ : Lismas, Mont. Editor Nonpartisan Leader; There*is one thing of which we may be quite sure, and that is that there will be new conditions which we must meet after the war, and it is impossible tc foresee to what extent society must be reorganized. The only way the common people have of meeting the mew conditions is to or- ganize for the common good, and I know of no better method than the one that is now being used by the Nonpartisan league. 1t is not bound to any certain party lines, is at liberty to adjust itself to conditions as fast as they arise. We must consider the ract that we are NEW WORLD IN living in a time of sudden changes. - Don’t think that the Republican or Democratic parties which your grand- father voted for will do what is need- ed today. There must be a united political effort of the common people, instead of voting against each other just because some party boss told you to do so. 63 The old gang and their poodles are trying to make it appear as though the farmers are disloyal. I know we are not so good at patriotic speeches and flag waving as they are, because we have not had the practice.. We have been too busy raising crops to féed the boys who shall carry the flag of freedom to victory. 3 THOMAS OLSON. . WHAT FORMER HEALTH COMMISSIONER | 2 ! KERR SAYS % “As Health Commissioner of the City of Chicago, I was importuned many times to recommend differ- ent medicines, mineral waters, etc. Never yet have I gone on record as favoring any particular remedy but I feel that in Nuxated Iron an exception should be made to the rule. I have taken Nuxated Iron myself and expérienced its health-giving, strength- building effect, and in the interests of the public welfare, I feel it my duty to make known the re- sults of its use. I am well past my three-score years and want to say'that I believe that my own great physical activity is due largely today to my personal.use of Nuxated Iron, and if my endorse- ment shall induce anaemic, nervous, rundown men and women to take Nuxated Iron, and receive the wonderful tonic benefits which I have received, I shall feel greatly gratified that I made an excep- tion to my life-long rule in recommending it. From my own experience with Nuxated Iron, I feel that it is such a valuable remedy that it ought to be used in every hospital and prescribed by every physician in this country.” L] W/flm% Former Health Commissioner, City of-Chicago. NOTE—Nuxated Iron, which has been used by Former Health Commissioner Kerr with such surpris- ing results, and which is prescribed and recommended by physicians in such a great variety of cases, is not a,patent medicine nor secret remedy, but one which is well known to druggists everywhere. Unlike the older inorganic iron products, it is easily assimilated, does not injure the teeth, make them black, nor upset the Commissioners in kaeplngbnp stomach; on the contrary, it is a most potent remedy a high standard of public in rnearly all forms of indigestion as well as for health. nervous, run-down conditions. The manufacturers : have such great confidence in Nuxated Iron that they offer to forfeit $100.00 to any charitable institution if they cannot take any man or woman under 60 who lacks iron and increase their strength 100 per cent or over in four weeks' time, provided they have no serious organic trouble. - They also offer to refund your money if it does not at least double your strength and endurance in ten days’ time. It is dispensed by “all good druggists. FISH Former Health. Commis- sioner Kerr hdas given years of his life.fighting for public health his own and other cities.
