D. e - Markets WHEAT SUMMARY Efforts of bull interests throu hout the week ending: April 15 to adsanee the quotations on wheat by circulation of crop damage reports throughout the middle west and seuthwest were only partially suceessful, and the bears, except for short intervals on diffcrent days, appeared to dominate tht;) market. resence of the “green bug” and the “Hessian fly” ingcertain gect’ions were elements in - the bull program, but as crop damage reports had been prevalent for three weeks,. the re- action on wheat prices at Minneapolis, Chicago and Winnipeg was small. Winnipeg maintained a lack of inter- est throughout the week, although Minneapolis responded with short lived spurts several times. The influence of the backward North Dezkota spring was as strong as anything else in maintaining what stiffiness therc was in the market. Bear intefests relied to some extent upon the heavy carryover of Canadian wheat to keep down the prices. A strike in one of the large transatlan- tic steamship lines also was a bear factor. Receipts for four days in Minneapolis were 930 cars against 279 cars for the corresponding days last vear; while shipments of wheat amounted to 653 cars for the same days besides large quantities of flour.
