M. on Wednesday and Friday of this week and thenceforth daily up to October 26. STATEN ISLAND. Bids will be received by the Trustees of Edgewater for building the Canal street sewer this evening. Grand and petit jurors have been drawn to serve at the Circuit Court and Court of Oyer and Terminer, which will convene at Richmond on the 11th inst. ‘The Agricultural and Horticultural Society of Rich- mond county will hold their anoual fair at the Sea View Driving Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. On the first day there will be a baseball match for a silver ball and a children’s pony race for two prizes. A list of witnesses was furnished by ex-Judge Rankin two weeks ago. Chief Pngineer Dougherty, of Jersey City, has nearly completed the map of Railroad avenue, to be submitted at the conference between the city authorities and the railroad officials relative to the raising of the tracks. The plans will all be dnished by the 16th inst. The new Catholic Protectory which was dedicated at Denville on Monday, by Bishop Corrigan, is situated on atarm of 2l4 acres. GAMBLER’S ARRESTED. Captain Van Dusen, of the Fifteenth precinct, raided on the gambling house No. 856 Broadway at ten o’clock Jast might and arrested three men and captured a full outit of gambling instruments, About three weeks ‘ago the police closed this house and arrested eight or ‘ten offenders, among whom was a Custom House clerk named Evans.” The proprietor had been previously held to await the action of the Grand Jury, notwithstanding which he resumed business in a few days.
