CoueralBiunt was in very poor he vith, and would leave for Bort Scott soon, All was quiot in the vicinity of Fort Smith, excopt that a rew bushwhackers were restless: but by the continual recomnoiierin: of our cavalry the sueriltag’were kept at a resect?! distance. The. robots were falling back on Shreveport, La. Kirby Smith was in command. About a hundred soldiers were daily recruited at Fort Smith. Tho enlistment o! necroow was aleo brisk, General Bont bis tsaved an address to the pexple of Westoru Arkansas, in which be assures them tbat the federal occupation is permanent, the whole of the Indian Territory and Western Arkansas being under bis control, ant all the rebel treops having been driven beyon! the Red river followed by the most anxious rebel citizens. He focis assured that the love aud attachment for the Union now evinced in Weatern Arkansas, the joy mu feasted at the appearance of his troops, the reports of the d-lo-ations which have visited him from the interior of S ubhern Arka ‘sas, and tue arrival of hundreds of refu- gees to enlist in the army, give aeaurancesfot the fact. Maretzek easures us that wo sball have @ moat brilliant seagon, and there can be no doubt that, with the troupe he has, be may fully carry out this promise. Broox.rn Acari peMY ov Mcsic.—Misa Taura Keene pro- duced at this establi-hment, last evening, a new specta- cular burletta, entitled the ‘Marble Maiden, or the Ghost of Cologne ,"" which was written for that favorite artist, ‘vy Mr. Frank Wood, It is full of wit and humor, and loca! hits, social, political and otherwise. The ghoste are numeronely represented, and, through a mysterious magic influence, Miss Ké8ue becomes alternately an ant- mated maiden and » marble statue, The piece is founded upon a German legend, and is, of course, replete with grand and gorgeous, yet effective, improbabilities. The music, by Mr. Jona P. Cooke, is excellent, well arranged ‘and heart stirring. Miss Laura Keene acted the heroine, as she does everything, with grace and artistic effect; yet she cannot look the marble maiden—she is too tender, too soft, and those twinkling eyes are evidences of the innate and irresistible vivacity of the bewitching flesh and blood. To enumerate the many charming incidents, the beauty of the scenery, the rapidity of the changes, the songs, dnetts and “ditties,” the kisses and their consequences, would take more space than we can sparo; but they can be ail summed up by saying that they were produced by Laura Keene. It is a hackneyed phrase to ‘say that the house was filled from the orchestra to the dome. We can only state that there was a brilliant and fashionable audience, and that the whole piece was re ceived with the greatest enthusiasm. A new comedietta, entitled * A Pearl Among Women,’’ will be produced on Friday next, which will be followed by the ‘Marble Maidea’’—‘‘who walks the ‘stage’ like a thing of life."” New York Court of Appeals. ‘The following is a list of the fret one hundred causes om the special mabe erm, 888 — of the Court of Ap- bondi LENDAR—CL008 1, Jo va. An article ia the arly Nimes Of the Zist inst., beaded as above, conveys to the public an impression that the Hudson River Railroad Company are very solicitous for the accommodation of the Saburban public, particularly the residents of Yonkers and places below, which is not nted by the facts. On ihe contrary, very fliltle re= gard is paid to the interests or wishes of its patrons living ia maid localities. ‘Take for instance the present time table, laned on the 21nt instant, Three trains leave the village of Yonkers as foliows, viz;—At seven, ve minutes to eight and twelve minutes past eight v’clock A. M., but seventeon minutes intervening between the last two. Residents below Yonkers, except at 1524 street, bave the advantage of the first and laat trains only, the intor mediate one being an expres and stopping only at 152d street. No trains afterwards until 10.25, which reaches, New York at 11.36 A. M., too late to be of use to the busi. bess community. The a'torncon trains going North are ‘but little better arranged. A train leaves York at 3.45, another at 410, only 25 minutes intervening. the next not unvil 6 30; then 4 at O16 and 1020. The last nomed train Ktops only at Manbattanville, below Yonkers, then at Yonkers and Dobbs Ferry, next at Peeks ii! Those living at Manhattenyijle Yonkers oud Dobbs Ferry, can return bome by late (10.901 M.) train, all others being obliged to stay in Now York over night Add to this the fact that the principal local trains rei dom arrive at or depart (rem the city with number of passengers being obliged to etand + of seats, algo the iact that traine running on time are the exce) tion rather than the rule, and you give the public @ fair impression in regard Ww the gecommodations aforded by this kind and public spirited company.
