eer INTELLIGENCE BY THE MAILS, Our Baltimore Correspondence, Barriwong, July UL, 1850. Destructive Fire—Railroud Receipts, §e. The Baltimore Eagle white lead works, on the corner of Lee and Warner streets, were last night lo‘ally destroyed by fire. ‘The loss is quite heavy, but is fully covered by insurance. Our Poste Rico Correspondence, M 2, P. It., June 29, 1850, The Weather —Te Crops—Markets, §c. This has been the most rainy month in the memory of that very respectable gentle- man, the “oldest inhabitant.” Scarcely a day has passed without a complete deluge, and not only in this district, but even in Guayama where the population had ceased to hope for rain, everaguin, they have barely escaped being swept away. The rivers have swollen unusually. The roads, bad enough at the have be- come impassable, and all soris of agricultural ope- rations heve ceased. Planters were unable tomake more sugars, or cart to market what they had already. We hope fora change eventually; therefore wait patiently. All the sugars made have been sold very recently at 2jc. a 3jc, according to quality, some vely pcor, others tolerable; and now, althovge therh are an unusually large num- ber ot fo.eign vessels in port, there is not a parerl of sugars or molasses on sale.— There will yet be made a thousand or more hogs- heads, provided the weather shall permit; but they are under the control of parties who require them for their own operations, therefore no more sales will be eflected, and some vessels now here will be une ble to load. Corn meal and flourfare abuudant, and very dull of sale wt much less than cost. Other provisions are generally in fair demand, at about freight paying rates. Pitch pine lumber is not plenty ; the demand is fair. Iloops and shooks are lenty, and sell only payable in February next.— ves—same. White pine boards are very scarce; in fact, there are none in the market, while the consumption of this plece is more than a million feet per annum. A few hundred thousand feet would bring $26 to $28, cash. Col. doubloons, $16, gold, or 317, m:; Spanish do., $174 do.; exchange 0 on New York, Par, for m. Our Mexican Correspondence, Acaruico, (Mexico,) June 12, 1850, Arrival of the California and Tennessec—Sickness on Shipboard. The steamship California has just arrived from Panama, making the shortest triponrecord, having performed the distance in 6 days and 19 hours.— The Tennessee arrive’ thirty-six hours previously, and left, taking with wer nearly all the coal and provisions at this place, so that the California will have to remain here about three days before she will be able to procure the necessaries to send her on her voyege. Coal is very scarce, and a number ot cargoes would be very valuable here to supply the numerous steamers that must necessarily stop at Acapulco for that article. The Tennessee had about ive hundred passengers on board, two of whom died with the fever, between Panama and this pluce, and she Jeft this port with over one hundred on the sick | News From Mexico. —ny ty the schooner Bonita, Capt.
