TITLE SUNDAY AFTERNOON Semi-pro Football Champions of Last Year to Face New Britain Blues in All-important Battle This Week- Trouble in Stopping Kayes« Ram of Challengers—Rival- ry Between Combinations Is at Fever Heat—Big - Despite the wordy arguments be- | ing carried on by the managers of both the Pawnees and the New Brit- ain Blues football teams, nothing is being left undone by either combina- tion to make all preparations pos- sible for the city championship clash between the two at Memorial Field in Willow Brook park Sunday afternoon. The teams are practic- | ing faithfully all this week and no stone is left unturned to get the combinations into the best possible condition for the contest. Word has been received from the camp of the Pawnees that the team that won the city championship from the Blues last season, is all et to defend its title. The Pawnees, unsuccessful in their attempts to de- feat the Blues for 11 straight sea- sons, finally came through with a blaze of glory last year. The team | expects. confidently, to repeat again this season The Blues are planning a thors ough campaign against the Pawnees. The victory of their rivals last year still rankles among the Blues players and they will be out to win Sunday no matter what the cost. The Blues are boasting of a squad of 28 men. The answer of the Paw- nees to this is that the Blues need a squad of at least 60 men if they want to win. Manager Otto Barta stated today that his team expects plenty of trouble jn trying to stop Kayeski, plunging battering ram of the Blue team, but he takes no re- sponsibility for anything that might happen to any of the opposition when the clash s on. | The kickoff Sunday is scheduled, to take place at 2:30 o'clock. A pre- liminary game i35 being arrangel | with either the Triangles or the Tigers holding the center of the stage. A large crowd will be on hand to witness the battle TITLE HOPES BLASTED Fullback Mechan's Violets. the com- | Pug Rentner, and Star Passer of Northwestern University Won't Play This Year. Chicago, Nov. 13 (UFP) — North- western's hope of winning the west- crn conference championship and | completing the football season uhde- feated reccived a staggering blow to- when it became known for the st time that Pug Rentner, 185- pound fullback and star passer, will not be able to play again this year. Rentner injured his shoulder two weeks ago when he tackled Jack Manders, Minnesota fullback, and it was belicved until today that he might be able to play against Wis- consin Saturday and certainly | against Notre Dame November 22. Rentner's loss will weaken the Northwestern team by at least 15 per cent in the opinion of Coacn Hanley. Until he was hurt late in the Minnesota game, Rentner, play- ing his first year of varsity football, has been the one outstanding star in the Wildcats' attack. Gloom, however, isn't alone con- fined to Northwestern as Wisconsin has appeared badly off form in prac- tice this weeck. One Madison critic cays the Badgers aren't tackling as cffectively as they did in spring prac- tice.
