> ENGLISH, CREAN AND . NURPHY T0 BROADCAST New Britain Entertainers Will Pro- Yide Program Over WTIC / Tomorrow Afternoon. Tom Waglish, noted minstrel, mc- companitd by John J. Crean, pian- ist, and Thomas A. Murphy, violinist, will stage a 15-minute New Britain program over, the radio from station WTIC in Hartford from 4 to 4:15 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The vrogram will be a bit of old time minstrelsy by Mr. English with the other two playing accompaniments for him. One of the features of the pro- gram will be cornet solos by Mr. English. He will play a cornet that was manufactured 50 years ago. It is the old-fashioned, short-barrelled instrument and as Mr. English him- self says, “It is 80 casy to play bad- Iy Mr. English will also give a dem- onstration of old-time fiddling. He will play the ancient Irish jigs and réels in a manner that is seldom “heard in these modern times. He will also give his own special- ty playing the bones to the tunes of the jigs and reels as played by Mr. Crean on the piano and Mr. Mur- phy, a modern violinist. Mr. Mur- phy has often been heard in violin solos at St. Mary's church in this city. Mr. English will also play the bones to tne Georgia Camp Meeting tunes. He will then give a demonstration of why he is considered the world's best tambourine expert. He will first . déemonstrate how a woman plays the tambourine. Then he will give "~ method of play used by a modern minstrel man, and lastly, he will give the old-time minstrel version of how the tambourine should be played.
