The nbjective of Lieutenants Jess Windham and Ben Stern of Mem- phis, Tenn., who plan to hop off from San Francisco on the morn- ing of July 3. eventually will be Manila, The flight will be financed by Memphis capital. The plane, an Faglerock, will be equipped with | the same type of motor that Col- onel Charles Lindbergh used in his hop across the Atlantic. The itinerary of the flight as mapped out by Windham and Stern will be to Honolulu on the first leg, thence to Guam or Tokyo, and ulti- mately to Merila, P. 1., a total dis- tance of 6.000 miles. Paul Redfern, Savannah, Ga., aviator, plans to have his airplane ready to start from Atlanta August 1 for San Francisco, where he will enter the Honolulu flight. Redfarn has a record of approxi- mately 1,840 hours in the air and during his several years service with the United States customs office here has gained experience which is expected to be of value to him on his Pacific flight. He says he will make only ene stop’ between Atlanta and San Francisco. Like Colonel Lindbergh in his trans-Atlantic flight, Lieutenant Douglas Davis. of Atlanta, plans to do his own navigating and to fly alone, He will use a monoplane, the construction of which he will super- intend, capable of a speed of 125 miles and hour with a load of 500 gallons of gasoline. Lieutenant Davis is 35 years old and began flying when 18, enlist- ing in the army =air corps and re- ceiving _his traininz at Maxwell Field, Montgomery, Ala., and at Arcadia, Fla. He was made an instructor and sincé his discharge in 1920 has been flying continu- ously. Parents Give Reception For Miss Rose Kirschnit Miss Rose Kirschnit was tendered a reception and dinner by her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kirschnit, at their home 283 Linwood street, last evening in honor of her grad- uation from New Britain State Nor- mal school. About 50 guests were present. The home was attractively decorated and a program of musical numbers was given. Miss Kirschnit received many beautiful gifts.
