Finding Much Difficulty in the Enroll- ment of the Women. ° - The registrars of the city find. that | some women are making it very un- pleasant for them and their assisfants in the enrollment of names for the personal tax list. They are encounter- ing many unpleasant -experiendes in their rounds of the city, because the wdmen consider some of the ques- tions that are being asked of them entirely too personal, and accordjng to the registrars, they are not back- ward in saying so. Some of them are trying to .revive the spirit of the old jAmazons in offering even personal violence to :the inquisitors, but thus far only cases of severe tongue lash- ings have been reported. According to T. J. Smith, these make it unpleas- ant enough without Bny actual battle taking place. There will be about 3,000 men less this yeatf than last, on account of the number of people who have left for the old country, The exodus of the Spahish colony which numbered about 2,500 last year, has been very great, there being only 300 of them in the city about the present time. _"Desplt'e 'q’ilr Low Prices we handle nothing bat the hlghest quality: at GENUINE .
