WOMEN MINISTERS 10 BE_fiJ!EN TEST Effort Will Be Made to Determine, g Question of Serving ——— Omaha, Neb., Oct. 21.—An effort to detenmine just what success women minisiers have had in church organi- zations that have authority to permit them to preach, is going to be made by the Methodist Episcopal church, ac- cording to Bishop Homer C. Stuntz, of Omaha, chairman of . a commission named by the church’s last general conference at Des Moines, Ia., to in- vestigate the question of ordaining , women to serve in various pulpits. * What recommendations, if any, are made by the commission. will depend entirely on data which is to be laid be- that will help determine how much suc- cess women have been having as min- isters.” © Bishop Stuntz, who recently return- ed to Omaha after five weeks’ confer- ences in Iowa and Nebraska, has jurisdiction over the church’'s Omaha area, which comprises Iowa and Ne- braska. 1,400 CADETS WILL BE GUESTS AT YALE Tomorrow’s Football Game to Be One of Most Spectacular Ever Held in New Haven. New Haven, Gct. 21.—Preparation for the Yale-Army game here tomor- row has been necessarily as great on the part of the ticket management as for either of the annual major games when Princeton orHarvard has been the opponent. Tomorrow’s battle will be witnessed by more spectators than any previous Yale game, 77,000 seats fore it, Bishop Stuntz said. The com- mission is expected to meet in New York early in December to hear the report of Doctor J. M. M. Gray ot Scranton, Pa., who has been doing a great deal of research work on the subject. Any recommendations the commis- sion may make, however, will not be made public, as the desire is to avoid publicity while the question is pending, both in the public and religious Press. Under the rules of the ' Methodist church the commission’s recommenda- tions will be referred to the church’s committee of revision, which, in turn, will submit them to the mext : ‘ral conference in 1924. ‘The next general conference n.. ting place, however, has not yet been se- lected, the choice under church rulea HNaving been left in the hands of its book committee. “The commission,” said Bishop Stuntz, “feels that ity first need is to ascertain from churches that have ordained women as ministers, just how the plan has worked; how many of them are serving:; how long they have kept up in the work; and other details WATCH FOR THE being assured of occupants. Official figures after the game will vie in in- terest with those of the gate receipts. However, with seats at the average prices of $2 and with 1,400 West Point Cadets as guests, the income of the game may not come up to that of maor games. The size of the expected football crowd has made necessary arrange- ments for detouring automobiles throughout the outskirts of the city to the Bowl. Yale puen from all over the state will be here but-it is ex- pected graduates from a distance will wait for the big Princeton clash. New Haven supporters will attend in the largest numbers on record, 20,000 tickets having been bought by them over the counter. This is the resi- dent’s big chance as Yale and Prince- ton student and graduate applications to see their classic clash have equalled the capacity of the Bowl GAS PUMP INSPECTET. After an inspection of gasoline pumps throughout the city, Sealer of Weights and Measures Carl A. Carl- son, has expressed a belief that there are numerous'instances of purchasers being given short measure. Not a sin- gle pump was found, in the inspec- tion to be right, although the var- jance was within the amount allowed — “FOX”— by the state.
