Expenditures for the year past to- talled $266.94, while the income amounted to $297.15. Thus, the bal- ance for the year is $30.21. The in- come was derived as follows: Balance on hand March 1, 1920, $64.65;: dues received, $77; Free Will and Jubilee Fund, $45.50; collections, 21; prooeeds from rummage sale, 5 interest on Liberty bonds, $6.26; gifts, $16. Review of the Year. Mrs. Kutz's report as secretary gave a comprehensive review of the past year., She read: “Last year our hearts were very jubilant over the adoption of the ecighteenth amendment, and we raised our voices in thanksgiving to the giv- er of every good thing, for granting this great boon to our nation. In October we saw our streets lined with women privileged to cast their first vote for president of, the United States, another wonderful victory. I hope that every W. C. T. U. woman will consider her privilege also a duty. “PFrom March 7, 1920, to March 1, 1921, fourteen regular and two execu* tive meetings were held. Our union was well represented at the county convention in October. We sent our president, Mrs. Gladden to the region- al conference in New York, another member of the union also attending. It was a most inspiring conference. What an uplift to a unien if ‘more of its members would attend these con- ferences. They would bring home with them such a glow of enthusiasm that it would be transmitted to every member with whom they came in contact doing much towards filling our hall to overflowing each meeting. “The cause of temperance is just as great today as when we were hop- ing and praying for prohibition. We must strive to keep what we have. I hope none of us will think that our work is done. We will have to fight while ever this world lasts. “During the year we were ad- dressed by the Rev. J. L. Davis of the M. E. church; Mrs. Beardsley on equal Miss Blair and Miss Rodgers ~anization, also Miss Bing- ham on church problems. Eight of our union have been engaged in Am- ericanization work, teaching English in night or Sunday school, two hun- dred and thirty-seven hours in all Thirty or more calls have been made. At least twenty-five hours have been spent in entertaining foreign people in our homes and as many MNght Junches served. - Fifty letters or cards were sent to our foreign neighbors and Miss Bliss has given eleven ad- dresscs on Americanization. “Our hearts have been stirred by the introduction of a measure in the senate to repeal Section 889 of the state statutes requiring the teaching Lot the effects of alcohol and narcotics in the public sehools, and many let- ters have gone out in protest. We conducted a rummage salec with good results. L. T. L. is under way and wo are looking forward to good re- sults along this line. We have an efficlent superintendent in Mrs. Edady and many of our unions have shown an eagerness to assist in the work. We joined other unions in giving ten dollars as a mark of appreciation to Mrs. Ellis for her many years of faithful service, and we have given fifty dollars to the hospital fund, also fifty dollars on our jubilee apportion- ment. A very successful institute was conducted February 24, and our union was well represented. “geveral of our members have been called to the better, Sister Crane, Sister Andrews, Sister Irving.” cITy 1S LIABLE.
