BREAD & 142 MAIN STREET LESS DEMAND THIS - YEAR FOR CHARIT New Britain Is Now Riding on Crest of Wave of Prosperity Prosperity is in the air, if one is the judge by the preparations being made by the New Britain Charity Or- ganization to furnish Thanksgiving cheer to its clientele. Inquiry at the office of the association today elicited the information that the demand for #id this Thanksgiving is much less than last and that while financial as- gistance will be necessary, the outlay will not be as large as in 1914. Miss Elsie Osborne, agent of the Charity Organization, said this morn- ing that she was making preparations to dispel the gloom in the homes of the deserving poor but she could not state just how many dinners would be sent out. The organization is re- ceiving lists from the churches and v:ill answer these appeals. The lists show that the needy cases this year are fewer than in the past. Nowhere in the city is there a bet- ter barometer of labor and financial conditions than the Charity organiza- tion. In times of financial distress the organization is stormed by ap- peals for assistance. The fact that ¢. great many people are able to pro- vide their own Thanksgiving dinners thig vear shows New Britain to be | erjoying a wave of unusual pros- perity. At the Hospital. The usual Thanksgiving observance ! will be held at the New Britain Gen- eral hospital, offering charitably in- clined people an opportunity to exer- cise’ their philanthropy. Donations will be gratefully received and those | who wish to contribute may notify Mrs; Jennie L. Bassett, the matron, or Mrs. George P. Hart, Mrs. George | W. Corbin or Mrs. Robert S. Brown. This affords an excellent chance to those who wish to bring happiness into the sick room. It is a noble cause and worthy of support. The Children’s Home. One hundred and fifteen little girls and boys at the Children’'s Home will | be made happy on Thanksgiving day jthrough the efforts of Rev. J. E. Klingberg. The usual holiday dinrer will be served and the little tots will be furnished with a real jolly time. Chicken At Town Home, Thirty chickens are in their “death cells” as the Town Home, Superin- tendent Kibbe having selected that number of the most likely looking birds on the farm for the delecta- tion of the appetites of the inmates, Thrity of them are being fattened and thirty of them will be laid out in state on big platters for the Thanks- giving dinners, surrounded by all the fixin’s, including seasonable vege- tables and two kinds of pie. A spe- cial menu wil] be served for break- fast at the home and the supper will include oysters. This is Your Chance. At this time of the year it be- hooves every citizen who can afford JUST TRY RHEUMA NO CURE, NO PAY That is the Basis on Which Drug- gists Offer this Great Remedy for Rheumatism, Anybody can afford to use Rheuma to get rid of terrible rheumatism, sclatica, or gout, for it-is sold by The Clark & Brainerd Co., and other druggists at only 50 cents. There are many worthy cases where illness or other causes has made it impossible for the head of the family to provide a holiday dinner. If the proper au- thorities are notified these cases will be attended to. Of course Thanksgiv- ing dinners are not purchased with- out money and that is where you can help. Don’t forget the children; don't let it be said that any little boy or girl in New Britain went with- out a big, steaming, succulent din- ner on Thanksgiving day while you were sitting down with your fine lin- en, silver, servants and the best tho markets can afford. New Britain women who are wealk, run-down and suffer from the cons®- | quent effects of such a condition, will be interested in Mrs, Odell's letter, She says: & “I am a farmer's wife and was all § | Tun-down, weak, tired, and suffered | from indigestion, and sometimes It seemed as though I could not keep around and do my housework. I had taken many medicines without benefity ! One day saw Vinol advertised, and made up my mind to try it.
